JMEC - Japan Market Entry Competition Website
The Japan Market Expansion Competition (JMEC) is a business training program in Tokyo with the dual objectives of strengthening the skills of executives and assisting foreign companies doing business in Japan. JMEC is supported by over 18 Japan based Chambers of Commerce and business community of which Rain is a sponsor.
The time had come for JMEC to update their website which had become out of date and difficult to use. Consulting with JMEC, Rain helped them redefine the business objectives of their website and help JMEC select a site inline with their objectives and available resources. The previous site was very system intensive and involved users using the site as an e-learning platform. However this was essentially inefficient, creating large amounts of unnecessary overhead for JMEC personnel and participants where also the intended features had been greatly superceded by other freely available online services. It didn't make operational sense to invest large amounts of resources in trying to replicate the current site or compete with much improved present services. Instead JMEC focused on raising awareness of the competition and accessibility to joining it rather than the site as a function of its operation, resulting on a much more efficient use of purpose. Rain helped JMEC select an appropriate design and built a new site based on this new focus of direction.
